GAES has been responsible for handling applications submitted within Macao for the Joint Entrance Examination of Higher Institutions in Mainland China for Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students since 2004.

The application period is in March, and the examination takes place in May. Overseas Chinese, and students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, having graduated/graduating from secondary schools, pre-university programmes or holding equivalent qualifications, and having fulfilled the requirements of the Prospectus of the year, can apply for the Joint Entrance Examination.
