Every year, there are numbers of local high school graduates choose to pursue their studies outside Macao. At the same time, as Macao’s higher education is gradually progressing, it also attracts more and more non-local students to choose Macao as a destination to further their studies. In this issue, we have interviewed a number of representatives from different countries and regions who have joined the “International Higher Education Exposition of Macao”. They share their perspectives of Macao students who choose to study abroad and introduce the general situation of the higher education of their countries and regions. Besides, the Magazine has also interviewed students who have chosen to study abroad to share their learning experiences.
In addition, Professor António Cunha, president of Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (CRUP) and Professor Maria de Fátima Marinho, vice rector of the University of Porto shares the significance of how Macao acts as a platform to promote the teaching and learning of Portuguese language. Professor Victor Zue of Massachusetts Institute of Technology introduces to us a new way of education - Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC). What’s more, the Macau University of Science and Technology explains how research professionals in scientific areas are trained through its Space Science Institute.
